The Crossroads...

It's been a crazy couple of years here in Texas.  Been on the set of the Miss Universe Pageant, The Celebrity Apprentice, met amazing people, ridden in a private jet to New York City, seen incredible things, heard fantastic stories and there's more to come.  Probably the best thing about it is I've had the opportunity to work on yet another amazing project.
Lately I've really been missing animation.  I've been think a lot of the short I started and never completed.  The prospect of having to decide what direction I wanted my career to take saddened me until I realized how much more I recognize in people as characters with stories since I really began editing and compositing full time.  I've got a library of character reference, reactions and expressions, people behaving for all situations, stories you can't make up.  I've experienced things I've never would have thought of moving controllers on a rig to the rhythms of the timeline.  In a way, I have a fresh perspective and sometimes that's all you need to take things to the next level.
Having said that...
I'm ready to start working on some new things again and finally animate my short- "The Squeakeasy."
Meanwhile, when I'm not serious, here's something I'm developing.

On the Set of Chi v. Biosilk: The Celebrity Apprentice

A segment from the show that I'm working on - we were flown to New York for this in the beginning of November last year.  This project was fun, running a very close second to Miss Universe.

Miss Universe 2012

Just spent nearly the entire month of December at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino with the Miss Universe Pageant.  Got to spend time with all of the girls, meet the photographers, runway coordinators, and the people that make it happen.  It was my first beauty pageant, and while I had an idea of what it was going to be like, I had no idea how fun it would be :).  All of the contestants were incredibly friendly (no cat fights), and the production was spot-on.  Loved being part of the show!

The Third Reel

Totally in After Effects

Such a pain keeping up with reels.  This is my current (kind of- within the year) TV reel... not to be confused with my animation reel or effects reel.  They're being updated next.  Then there's the website...

PC Break

Thought I would save some money and buy the house marker instead of what I normally get.  Big mistake.  So much alcohol and pigment that I could literally push it on the paper several washes later.  When I finally determine how to get the pigment off the paper, I'll be able to finish the gradient for the sky.

What dreams are made of...

Miss drawing with markers- makes you realize what a crutch ctrl+z is or how unforgiving poor decisions are on paper.  Haha.

33rd Annual Telly Awards

The news show I've been producing and directing, Dia Delivery, won a Telly Award! I'm lucky- I've got a really talented young cast, and their show has only been on the air a few months.

Hanging out with Al Reinert

Got to hang out with Academy Award Winning screenwriter Al Reinert at the studio.  He's worked with Ron Howard and Tom Hanks, among other people (maybe you've seen Apollo 13).  He gave a very enlightening interview- how he got his start, some of the projects and jobs he's worked, and his plans for the future.  So lucky to get to learn from the masters, what an exciting time to be in the industry.
